The Kona Coffee and Tea Company is privileged to present “The Enduring Wiliwili” an exhibition by Pacific Island Printmakers, inspired by the endangered Wiliwili tree. In this collaboration with the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative, The Pacific Island Printmakers immersed themselves in learning about the biology of the tree, the larger context of dry forest ecosystems and its cultural significance. Through a two year process of visiting the forest, sketching, asking questions and gathering impressions, each artist offers their unique expression of the tree through the medium of printmaking. This group of artists is comprised of John McCaskill, Margaret Barnaby, Andrea Pro, Lisa Louise Adams and Kathy Molina. Accompanying them will be acoustic guitarist, Vince La Porta.
The exhibition is a fundraiser for the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative. A portion of the sale from the original woodcut prints and 100 % of the proceeds from greeting cards rendered from the originals will go directly to support forest projects.
