This year marks our 20th year of farming and we're kicking it off by celebrating all week-long, from Friday, February 9th to Friday, February 16th (actually 8 days long).
20 YEARS OF FARMING
In 1998 the first Kona Coffee & Tea coffee plant was planted by the Bolton family. Dan, Jan, their kids Malia, Danny, and Kirstina (ranging in age from 9 to 16) and extended family planted the first 20 acres of arabica typica in late spring of 1998. The idea back then was just to keep this land, known as Waiono meadows, agriculturally productive, which was previously a cattle ranch. Today, the farm has grown to over 100 acres, plus a successful café, and online shop. Learn more...
The celebration started by opening the entry period to win "the ultimate Hawai`i Island Adventure" including a “Doors Off” Paradise Helicopters lava and rainforest tour for two, a Private Tour of the Single-Estate Kona Coffee and Tea Farm for two, and a 100% Kona Coffee Goodie Bag. Enter to win by Thursday, February 15th online or in person at the KCTC Kailua-Kona Café. The Winner will be announced on Friday, February 16th.
On Friday, February 9th we will have a One-Day FLASH SALE where all Kona Coffee and Tea packaged coffee will be available at 30% retail price. This sale is good only for in-café sales. As supplies last. We are making room for the debut of our new packaging.
After 20 years, we thought it was time to update our look. Saturday, February 10th, is the launch of our new packaging, only available at our Kailua-Kona Café. This new packaging was inspired by the coffee plants on our farm and our Farm-to-Cup operation. We worked with Big Island designer Dayva Keolanui on the design. The new look will be available for purchase online later this month.
Did you know that we're family owned and operated? The Bolton family, founders Dan and Jan, and the next generation, their daughter, Malia (Operations Manager) and, son, Danny (Miller and Roaster), will sit down for a Talk Story about the Kona coffee industry and their 20 year journey.
